The Clinton County Fair was first held on October 17 and 18, 1848 when the Board of Directors voted on July 28, 1833 to have the first fair the last Saturday of October. In 1857 the fair was moved to the location where Wilmington College. The Fair featured many types of displays by members, who paid 50 cents for their membership. Premiums were awarded on hogs, sheep, cattle, and on articles manufactured by Agricultural Society Members.
Today, the Clinton County Fair is held in July for 8 days with live entertainment, harness racing, an antique tractor pull, tractor pull, and a demolition derby. In 2004 the Fair consisted of 19 departments that held events such as NWF Wrestling, Demolition Derby, Model Airplane Flying, and the Crowning of the Junior Fair Queen. Animal lovers can catch the Junior and Senior Fair shows of cattle, sheep, hogs, rabbits, chickens, horses, and pets.
